Wrexham A.F.C. opened their 2026/27 Championship home campaign with a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon. New signing Danny Imray once again impressed and scored his first goal for the Red Dragons, following Watford's Luca Kjerrumgaard heading the visitors ahead in the 14th minute. Kjerrumgaard finished off a close-range header from Traore's cross. A well-deserved goal as the visitors looked a threat early on, coming off the back of a 2-1 victory on opening day against Southampton. However, the home side made an instant response when Kieffer Moore put the ball across the box, and Danny Imray's strike was deflected past Federico Ravaglia in the Watford goal. Wrexham's owners, Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds, were also at today's game, overseeing the club's new summer signings, as Ben Whiteman also made his Wrexham home debut alongside the goalscorer and goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. Imray went close several more times in the first half and was a consistent threat down Wrexham's right-hand side; He also had a scuffed shot hit the outside of the post. The new summer signing is already proving how important he is to Phil Parkinson's side. In a tightly contested second half, with both sides trying to secure all three points, it was the Red Dragons who looked most likely to score, but, as on Monday night, were unable to put the game to bed. Rathbone crossed to Thomason, who hit the crossbar from close range; O'Brien had a shot deflected over the bar and also went close late on to seal the win. Phil Parkinson will be left frustrated again that his side was unable to put the game to bed, but will be pleased with the team response to going one down early on. While it's now back-to-back draws in the Championship, Parkinson will also be happy to see Ben Whiteman, Danny Imray and Anthony Patterson making their home debuts.
