Wrexham A.F.C. unveiled a dramatically advanced new Kop Stand on August 22, 2026, after a busy summer of construction. The stand, located in the Racecourse Ground’s Macron Stand, was photographed by season-ticket holder Alex Whilding from seat PG6. The first photo, taken during Wrexham’s last home game of the 2025/26 season against Middlesbrough on May 2, showed a single stairwell tower rising above the site, largely enclosed in pale formwork, with the surrounding structure still low and quiet.
By the club’s first home game of the new season against Watford on August 22, the site had transformed. The steel frame of the main stand now stretches across two visible tiers, with bright orange bracing exposed throughout. Precast terracing units are being lifted into place, and a crane remains overhead, creating a much busier, more expansive construction scene than the single tower seen in May.
Construction had been slow-moving last season, so the stand was still in an early phase back in May. Over the following months, crews assembled the frame of the upper and lower tiers, completed staircases in both stairwell cores, and continued installing precast terracing sections. Drone footage shared on social media in June already showed the steel skeleton rising clearly above the skyline, and the pace evidently continued through the rest of the summer.
The huge new stand will eventually seat thousands of fans and restore the Racecourse Ground to a four-sided stadium. Club chief executive Mike Williamson has said the stand is on course to be fully operational for the 2027/28 season, though there is hope some of it could open in a limited capacity later in the 2026/27 season.
