Steve Parkin has praised Conor Coady's professionalism following the defender's departure from Wrexham A.F.C. Last month. The assistant manager said the former England international set a strong example for younger players during his time at the Racecourse Ground.

Parkin reflected on Coady's impact this week as Wrexham prepare for their next Championship fixture. "He set a real example of professionalism while he was here and we wish him all the very best," Parkin said. He described Coady as an outstanding individual both on the training ground and around the club.

Coady's background and role

Conor Coady joined Wrexham from Leicester City in August 2025. The 33-year-old former Wolves captain made six appearances in all competitions during the early part of the 2025-26 season. His contract was terminated by mutual consent at the end of August 2026.

His experience was valued in a squad that is now finding its feet in the Championship. Wrexham currently sit 14th in the table with 10 points from eight games, a position they will look to improve starting with a trip to Derby on 10 October.

Post-Wrexham activities

Since leaving, Coady has gone on loan to Charlton Athletic and is currently supporting England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley during the autumn internationals. He had previously assisted with the England Under-19s setup in March.

Wrexham's focus remains on their own campaign, with the squad aiming to build on a recent 2-1 win over Southampton. The current squad is handling a challenging division, seven points behind early leaders Swansea. Conor Coady is now on loan with Charlton Athletic following his departure from Wrexham A.F.C. At the end of August.
