Wrexham AFC's opening home game of the season against Watford on August 21 is set to face severe parking pressure, with Wrexham Council urging fans to plan ahead. The Racecourse stadium is expected to see capacity parking within hours of kick-off, prompting officials to promote alternative transport options to reduce road congestion. Council leader Cllr David A Bithell highlighted the need for affordable travel solutions, citing the growing number of supporters attending matches as a key factor in increased strain on local infrastructure. The council's £2 Arriva day ticket and Ruthin Road park-and-ride service are being promoted as key alternatives to driving directly to the stadium. Fans can also use Arriva buses within the 'Wrexham' zone for £2 with a valid match ticket, saving £3.60 compared to the standard adult fare. For those opting to drive, The Ramada Plaza Wrexham is offering £5 matchday parking on Ellice Way, less than a 10-minute walk from the stadium. The park-and-ride service on Ruthin Road provides free parking and a £1 return bus ticket to the stadium, with 50p for children. Concessionary pass holders over 60 can travel for free. Arriva North West and Wales will operate five buses every 20 minutes to Mold Road, outside the ground, before and after the match. The council emphasized that these measures aim to ensure safer, more enjoyable matchdays for both fans and residents.
