Wrexham A.F.C.'s place in Welsh football history will be celebrated at a special community event later this month. The National Library of Wales is bringing its tour to Wrexham Library on Wednesday, 24 September, from 4pm to 7pm.
Admission is free but requires a reservation, which can be made by calling 01978 292090 or via email. The event is part of a wider tour of Wales and will focus on local history and sporting culture.
Councillor John Pritchard, Lead Member for Corporate and Customer Services, welcomed the initiative. "I’m delighted that the National Library of Wales have chosen to stop at Wrexham Library as part of their tour of Wales to give people the opportunity to learn more about certain elements of our local history and our footballing profile locally," he said.
The programme will be hosted by Wrexham AFC commentator Mark Griffiths, who will lead a discussion on the city's role in Welsh football. It also includes a screening of The Terrible Price documentary and poetry readings from the Wrexham Year of Wonder 1876.
The event offers a moment of reflection for the community as the football club handles its Championship season. Wrexham currently sit 19th in the table with seven points from seven games, having scored seven goals and conceded eleven. Their recent form shows one win, two draws and two defeats from the last five outings, a sequence you can review on our stats page.
Phil Parkinson's side are next in action at home to Southampton on Saturday, 19 September, looking to build momentum ahead of a busy period detailed in the club's fixtures. The library event provides a chance for supporters to connect with the club's deeper roots amid the current campaign.
