Wrexham A.F.C. is gearing up for a dramatic final day in the Championship, with manager Phil Parkinson confirming plans to closely monitor rival results as they bid to clinch a coveted play-off spot. The Red Dragons host Middlesbrough at Stok Cae Ras on Saturday (12:30 BST) in a high-stakes encounter.

The race for the top six is incredibly tight, with Wrexham holding a slender advantage over both Hull City and Derby County. Hull City will face Norwich City, while Derby County takes on Sheffield United at Pride Park. The outcomes of these concurrent matches are pivotal to Wrexham's play-off fortunes.

Phil Parkinson revealed his strategy for managing the final-day tension: "We'll designate someone in particular on the bench who will be keeping a check on the results." He emphasized the importance of real-time information, drawing on his experience from previous high-pressure season finales.

Regardless of Saturday's result, Wrexham director Shaun Harvey has already declared the 2025-26 season a success. Parkinson echoed this sentiment, expressing immense pride that the club has achieved its highest-ever league finish, leaving behind established teams like Leicester City, Birmingham City, and Watford in the Championship standings.

Despite this acknowledged success, Parkinson stressed the team's unwavering "hunger" to take the "next step" and secure promotion. He noted Wrexham's familiarity with high-pressure situations since Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took control in February 2021, leading to three successive promotions under his guidance.

The experienced manager reflected on the initial challenge of returning the club to the Football League as the most intense pressure he has faced during his tenure, particularly after the agonizing 5-4 National League play-off semi-final loss to Grimsby Town in their first full season under the new ownership.
