Wrexham A.F.C. Target Six Play-off Spots in 2026-27
Wrexham A.F.C. are looking to make a strong push for a play-off spot in the 2026-27 Championship season, having finished 7th in the final 2025 table with 71 points from 46 games. The team has been working hard to build on their historic rise through the EFL ranks, and their pre-season performances have been promising.
Former Red Dragons star Trundle believes that Wrexham A.F.C. have the potential to go all the way to the Premier League, saying, 'The rise that they've been on is unbelievable. You see that probably the football club has moved too fast on the pitch for them to work off it.'
Wrexham A.F.C. will face Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup first round on Friday, before opening their 2026-27 Championship campaign against Cardiff on August 17. They will also face Birmingham and Swansea in their early derby dates.
Trundle added, 'I definitely think they will still be looking at the play-off spots. I think you're looking at the division, the teams that have come down as well, I think it is still a strong division and I think where Wrexham are, I definitely think that they would still be targeting the play-off spots.'
With six play-off spots up for grabs this season, Wrexham A.F.C. will be looking to make a strong start to the campaign and push for a top-six finish.
