Wrexham A.F.C. will face Liverpool in a preseason soccer match at Yankee Stadium on July 29. The match will be the third appearance of Liverpool at the current Yankee Stadium. Wrexham A.F.C. was founded in 1864 and is the third-oldest professional soccer team in the world. The club has won the Welsh Cup a record 23 times and has beaten some of the biggest clubs in soccer in the English FA Cup and UEFA European Cup Winners Cup. Wrexham's home stadium, the STōK Cae Ras, is the world's oldest stadium that continues to host international games. Liverpool FC is the current reigning Premier League champion and one of the world's most historic and famous football clubs, having won 20 league titles, eight FA Cups, 10 League Cups, six European Cups, three UEFA Cups and four European Super Cups. The original Yankee Stadium hosted dozens of soccer matches featuring clubs from around the world, and the tradition has continued at the current Yankee Stadium. In addition to serving as the primary home of Major League Soccer's New York City FC since it began play in 2015, the current Stadium has hosted seven prior European friendlies.
