George Thomason believes Wrexham A.F.C. are better prepared for the 2026-27 Championship campaign after a summer of fewer changes than last year. The utility player, who joined as part of Phil Parkinson's 2025 squad overhaul, says the team's growing familiarity will be crucial as they target a play-off push after finishing seventh last season (17W-13D-12L, 64 pts).

What's changed this summer?

Wrexham made just three signings this summer-Danny Imray, Ben Whiteman and Anthony Patterson-compared to the 13 arrivals before last season. Thomason says this continuity has strengthened the squad. "We all know each other better now," he said. "Last year was a lot of new faces, but this time we’ve got that understanding."

Why this season could be different

Thomason, who impressed at left wing-back last season, says the team’s bond is stronger. "The support has been incredible," he said. "As long as we stay together, that’ll bring success." Wrexham’s pre-season tour to the U.S. also helped, with Thomason calling it a "brilliant" experience.

What comes next?

Wrexham start their Championship campaign with a Welsh derby against Cardiff City on Monday. Thomason is excited for the "cracking atmosphere" and believes the team are ready to challenge after narrowly missing the play-offs last season.
