Wrexham A.F.C. manager Phil Parkinson is looking to build on the team's excellent first season back in the Championship, securing a record-breaking third promotion and finishing seventh in the final 2025 table. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 7th in Championship, 64 pts, 17W-13D-12L from 42 games, recent form LLDWL. Goals this season: 63 scored, 60 conceded (+3 goal difference). Title race: 22 points behind leaders Coventry.
What happened?
Phil Parkinson believes the Championship will be even more competitive this season, but he is looking to build on an excellent first campaign. On the back of securing a record-breaking three successive promotions, Parkinson revamped his squad for Wrexham's return to the second tier following a 43-year absence. Although they made a slow start, the Reds quickly adapted to life at a higher level and emerged as play-off contenders.
Why it matters for Wrexham A.F.C.
Parkinson made 13 new signings in the summer transfer window last year and with three fresh faces arriving in January before adding Danny Imray, Ben Whiteman, and Anthony Patterson to the squad over the last few weeks, he feels Wrexham are in a good place heading into the new campaign after spending pre-season together.
What comes next?
Parkinson understands Brunt's decision to leave Wrexham for regular game-time. Phil Parkinson says Cadamarteri has a lot to offer Wrexham this season. Imray says 'I feel like I'm at home already' after joining Wrexham. Two former Premier League stars disagree on Wrexham promotion chances.
The future is now
It's all about the future now and after sealing the club's highest ever league finish, Parkinson is looking to take another step forward. 'We knew we'd come into a division which was going to be tough,' said the Reds' boss. 'I think everybody knows that and we got better as the season went on. We had some really good periods in the season and can we build on that now? That's obviously the aim. But lots of good parts to the season, lots of positives individually and now can we improve individually and collectively, and take it into this coming season.'
