Shaun Pearson has joined Lincoln City's first-team coaching staff. The 37-year-old former Wrexham A.F.C. Captain will now face his old club in the Championship this season.

Pearson, who left his role with Grimsby Town in August, brings extensive experience to the Imps' backroom team. He retired from playing in 2023 and immediately moved into coaching, becoming assistant head coach to Dave Artell that same year. His playing career included a significant spell at Wrexham, where he joined from Grimsby in 2017 and made over 130 appearances before departing in 2021.

Lincoln's coaching setup

He joins a staff led by joint head coaches Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw. The setup also includes coach Paul McShane, goalkeeping coach David Preece, and performance analyst Logan Hughes.

The move sets up a poignant reunion on the touchline. Lincoln City host Wrexham in the Championship on November 21, with Pearson in the opposition dugout. Wrexham head into that period sitting 14th in the table with 10 points from eight matches. Their recent form shows two wins, two draws, and one defeat from the last five games, a sequence that includes a 2-1 victory over Southampton last time out.

Pearson's leadership qualities were recognised during his time at the Racecourse Ground. Former co-owner Ryan Reynolds once described him as "one of the best". Wrexham's immediate focus is on their next Championship match away to 22nd-placed Derby on October 10. The full squad details are available on our squad list.
