Wrexham A.F.C. fans are facing a dilemma between missing the end of midweek matches or missing the last train home. Member of the Senedd (MS) for Fflint Wrecsam, Ken Skates, has called on Transport for Wales to introduce a later service.

The issue affects fans travelling on the Wrexham to Bidston route, which serves several stations in the Flint Wrecsam constituency. Ken Skates has raised the problem with Transport for Wales, saying that a constituent from Mancot recently raised the issue, stating that the service is regularly used by a few hundred supporters after a match.

The Wrexham-Bidston rail service stops at Gwersyllt, Cefn-y-Bedd, Caergwrle, Hope, Penyfford, Buckley, Hawarden, Shotton, and Hawarden Bridge before continuing to the Wirral. Ken Skates has suggested that Transport for Wales look at introducing a later service on midweek match nights, even if only on a trial basis to begin with.

A Transport for Wales spokesperson has stated that they work closely with Wrexham A.F.C. and local stakeholders to support fans travelling to and from fixtures at the STōK Cae Ras. They have also trialled later evening services on the Wrexham-Bidston line across four midweek matches last year in direct response to fan feedback.
