Wrexham A.F.C. young professionals, including Harry Ashfield, will get a chance to impress in pre-season.
What's at Stake?
The 20-year-old midfielder had opportunities in cup competitions and made his league debut against Blackburn Rovers. Ashfield joined Cheltenham Town on loan and scored two goals in 17 League Two appearances.
Loan Moves Ahead?
Phil Parkinson revealed there has been interest from clubs looking to complete a loan move for Ashfield and other youngsters. Aaron James, Alex Moore, and Rio Owen could also have temporary stints away from The Racecourse.
Pre-Season Opportunities
The youngsters will get game-time in pre-season, starting with the opening friendly in Poland against Wisła Kraków. Parkinson wants to give them a chance to show what they can do, just like he did with Max Cleworth, who progressed through the ranks to become a first-team regular. With the team currently 7th in Championship, 71 pts, 19W-14D-13L from 46 games, and 24 points behind leaders Coventry, Parkinson is assessing everything, including the development of his young players.
The Road Ahead
Parkinson will decide whether Ashfield will be part of his plans for the coming season, considering the club's 25-man squad limit. The team's recent form, DLWWL, and goal difference of +4, with 69 scored and 65 conceded, will also be taken into account. As Wrexham A.F.C. prepares for the 2026-27 campaign, the pre-season friendlies will be crucial in determining the team's strategy and player development.
