Wrexham A.F.C. Midfielder George Dobson could be on the move to Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with the Owls reportedly interested in the 28-year-old. Sheffield Wednesday are weighing up a move for Dobson, who has been a regular in North Wales since joining Phil Parkinson's side from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2024. Dobson has made 94 appearances for the Red Dragons across all competitions, scoring four and assisting nine. The Englishman managed to retain his place in the middle of the park at the Racecourse Ground following promotion to the Championship, providing competition for the likes of Matty James, Oliver Rathbone, Lewis O'Brien, and Ben Sheaf. Now, with Wrexham having set their sights on a move for Preston's Ben Whiteman and West Bromwich Albion's Jayson Molumby, as per Alan Nixon, Dobson could be moved this summer, with Wednesday having made their interest known.

What comes next? Dobson would likely command a starting berth should he make the step down to League One with the Owls, and where Pedersen would manage to accommodate each of him, Bannan, Mitchell, Slattery, as well as Nathaniel Chalobah is not yet clear. Nevertheless, a deal seems only likely to happen should Wrexham confirm the addition of one of Whiteman or Molumby to replace him.

Why it matters for Wrexham A.F.C. Under the watch of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Welsh outfit have stormed their way through the EFL, and are currently sitting 7th in the Championship with 71 points from 46 games, 19 wins, 14 draws, and 13 losses. They have scored 69 goals and conceded 65, with a goal difference of +4. They are 24 points behind leaders Coventry in the title race.

What's the context? The rebuilding process at Hillsborough doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon, with Danish head coach Henrik Pedersen tasked with spearheading the club's charge back to the Championship. 12 players have come through the doors in South Yorkshire thus far, including the likes of Barry Bannan, Billy Mitchell, and Callum Slattery, and that doesn't appear to be showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
