Wrexham A.F.C.'s historical matches with Derby County are filled with dramatic moments, a point underlined by their recent 1-1 draw at Pride Park. The Dragons, currently 17th in the Championship with 11 points from 10 games, have a long and eventful history against the Rams.
Matty James scored in a 2-1 victory for Wrexham at Pride Park last season, a result that remains a highlight for supporters. The fixture's history stretches back much further, however. In 1980, Ian Edwards volleyed home the only goal in a 1-0 win for Wrexham at Derby's old Baseball Ground. The following season, Edwards was involved in a cruel twist, scoring an own goal that handed Derby a 2-1 victory.
Another painful chapter came in January 2007, when Wrexham lost 3-1 to Derby in the FA Cup. That match proved to be the final game in charge for manager Denis Smith. The recent meeting on 10 October saw Oliver Rathbone score a late equaliser, assisted by top scorer Kieffer Moore, to secure a point.
With their recent form reading one win, two draws and two losses from the last five, Phil Parkinson's side now turn their attention to the next challenge. They host Preston North End at the Racecourse Ground this Saturday, 17 October.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says the club must ride "this bit of a storm" after a fresh injury crisis. He confirmed Josh Windass suffered an ankle injury in the 1-2 loss to West Brom on 13 October, joining the list of sidelined players. Callum Doyle, Ben Sheaf and Matty James were also injured during the international break. Parkinson said Sheaf felt a groin issue in training, Doyle had a tendon tightness, and James required an epidural for a back spasm. The 17th-placed Reds, who have conceded 15 goals this season, host Preston next.
