Joe Worrall has urged Wrexham A.F.C. to embrace the Championship's unpredictable nature as they continue their mission to reach the Premier League. The experienced defender, who has won promotion from the division twice, believes the club's clear identity and steady progress are the foundations for a successful push.

Wrexham currently sit 17th in the Championship table with 14 points from their opening 12 games, a position Worrall sees as part of the journey. "You've just got to be so steady, not too high, not too low," he said. "Get on the roller coaster and enjoy it."

The promotion blueprint

Worrall, 29, points to what he calls the 'golden triangle' or 'Three Amigos' needed for success: a strong club identity, a clear playing style, and a deep squad. He argues Wrexham are close to having all three. The club's identity, he says, has been straightforward for the last three seasons: win every game and get promoted. That focus delivered back-to-back-to-back promotions, a rise he describes as an "absolute mission" from the lower leagues.

He credits manager Phil Parkinson, owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and the players for the success of the last four or five years. While there has been player turnover, the manager and long-term staff have remained, providing continuity. "Every new player says they have ambitions, but Wrexham's proof is in the pudding," Worrall stated.

Building on momentum

The recent form of two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five matches shows the division's challenges. A 4-1 home victory over Preston, where Worrall scored and provided an assist, was followed by a 2-0 defeat at Blackburn last Friday.

That momentum will be tested away at Sheffield United this Friday. The Blades sit 12th, just three points ahead of Wrexham, making it a significant opportunity.

Worrall insists the club cannot be satisfied after missing the play-offs last season and must keep building. With a new training ground and new players arriving in future transfer windows, the process is continuous. "I think Wrexham are close to those three," he said, referring to the elements of the golden triangle. The club will continue to push for promotion through strategic recruitment in the summer and January windows.
