Wrexham A.F.C. face a Derby County side in defensive disarray when they meet at Pride Park on Saturday. The Rams are without their first-choice goalkeeper and every natural left-back in their squad due to injury.
Goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom is out with a knee injury, with Josh Vickers continuing in his place. The left-back situation is more severe. Derry Murkin suffered a serious hamstring injury in an under-21s warm-up and will not be available until Christmas after an operation. Craig Forsyth is recovering from knee surgery and his return before the festive period is uncertain. Charlie Taylor, who came off with a hamstring problem against Burnley, is also expected to be out for months. Reigning player of the season Matt Clarke is still around four weeks away from a return from a calf issue.
Wrexham's settled side
Phil Parkinson's side, sitting 14th in the Championship with 10 points, travel with a settled starting XI and momentum from a 2-1 win over Southampton. Top scorer Kieffer Moore, who has three goals this season, scored in that victory. Wrexham won the last meeting between the sides 2-1 back in January.
Derby manager John Eustace acknowledged the challenge. "John Eustace will hope the enforced pause has been kind to his squad ahead of Saturday's Championship meeting with Wrexham," he said.
With Derby 22nd in the table, this fixture presents a significant chance for Wrexham to build on their recent form. The match kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday at Pride Park.
